“跨年晚會”英語說法一：New Year's Eve Party
“eve”這個單詞我們在聖誕夜(Christmas Eve)中也碰到過，它表示“day or evening before a religiousfestival or holiday”，也就是“前日，前夕”的意思。因此今天，也就是12月31日，就是“New Year's Eve”了哦。除了以上的這個意思，“eve”還可以表示“重大事件即將發生的時刻”，比如說：
Those hopes helped lift the Bombay Stock Exchange by over 20% from the election result to the eve of the budget.(從大選結果公佈到預算案出臺的前夜，這些希望促使孟買的股票交易額上升了20%多。)
“跨年晚會”英語說法二：Countdown Party
除了以上這個比較中規中矩的說法，由於一般性跨年晚會到最後都會進行新年倒計時的環節，因此我們還可以用“countdown party”來表示“跨年晚會”。
