對這個問題的回答是“No”。單詞越短，模樣看著越順眼，就越受老外歡迎。所以，他們動不動就給這些單詞增加新的意思。
比如spring這個單詞，我頭一次見是“春天”的`意思，一直到第18回見，它都是“春天”的意思。後來有一天我看海明威的《老人與海》，這個詞忽然變成了“彈簧”的意思。
當我們第27次見面時，這個詞出現在飲料瓶上，是“泉水”的意思。這實在讓人崩潰。
這6000來個單詞就好比是兩類人。一類是好人，這類單詞的所有解釋看過去其實就一個意思，只是在不同的上下文裡呈現不同的側面。
