托福考試是留學北美國家的敲門磚，託福寫作要想拿高分，必要的因素包括準確的詞彙和片語、嚴密的邏輯結構、有力的主題和論據等。一般來說，託福寫作詞彙使用有3個方面的技巧：
1.選詞時要符合語言習慣
並與社會文化諸多背景一致。由於東西方社會歷史文化的差異，許多詞所引申或代表的內容也大相徑庭。如果沒有廣泛的閱讀積累，養成經常查字典的良好習慣，單憑想當然地選詞，勢必會詞不達意。
2.在英語寫作中特別要注意區分同義詞
選詞時要考慮主題、物件及情景。由於歷史的原因，現代英語除本族語外，還包括大量的法語和拉丁來源的詞，這就使英語的`同義詞相當豐富。
3.措詞選擇應把握好
