1. be left in the basket 被置於籃子之中

2. bury / dig up the hatchet 埋入 / 挖出戰斧
源自北美印第安人風俗習慣。在印第安人部落中，斧子不僅是生產工具，也是戰鬥武器。印第安人常在斧子上刻上條紋以記錄自己殺敵的數目。因此，當敵對雙方講和時，雙方都要將戰斧埋入地下，代表摒棄仇恨、敵對和毆殺，以示和解。而當他們重新開戰時，又會舉行儀式，將戰斧挖出。後來，人們就將 bury up the hatchet 比喻為“休戰；重歸於好”，而dig up the hatchet 則喻指“宣戰”。
