1995 the CIA held a contest to see who could compile the most data about Burundi. Contest 是不是 to see的邏輯主語who修飾限定的是contest嗎，修飾限定是幾個意思，有什麼不同嗎？
解析：to see是contest的補語，who後引導的是see的賓語從句。修飾是使文字更加生動，限定是限制其範圍及界限。
2. That kind of electronic spying has been going on for decades.
問題： kind of electronic spying has been going on for decades.這句話是個簡單句還是什麼，that是什麼，能去掉嗎？has been怎麼翻譯，主幹是什麼？
解析：That是指示代詞，has been going on for decades.是現在完成進行時，多年以來一直…主幹是That kind of electronic spying has been going on for decades.
3. In the past three or four years, the World Wide Web has given birth to a whole industry of point-and-click spying. 問：to是什麼，point-and-click看作什麼？
解析：the World Wide Web has given birth to 這個to是跟著give birth 這個搭配的，像point-and-click看作形容詞。
4. The spooks call it open source intelligence， and as the Net grows, it is becoming increasingly influential. as怎麼理解？那後面it is becoming increasingly influential.又是個句子中間沒連線詞是省略了什麼。
解析：and as the Net grows 是and後面那句話的狀語，插入語是附加說明的，去掉後句子依然完整。後面的as在這是隨著的意思。As有好多意思要根據語境分析到底是那種意思。同時要積累詞彙中as的.用法，只能去多記。主幹：The spooks call it open source intelligence and引導的是兩個獨立的句子，it is becoming increasingly influential.沒有省略，是and後的句子的主幹。

解析：using whatever tools came to hand in the great game of espionage 是believe後整體作賓語，whatever在從句中作主語，came to hand 是從句中的謂語，in the great game of espionage是狀語。as a profession. AS 在這是副詞作為的意思。

問：These days the Net 突然糾結，知道the net是主語，但是為什麼用these days，such everyday pastimes as buying books and sending mail,這是such as 的形式還是such……as的形式
解析：these days 是時間狀語，such as 和such……as的形式區別不大都是例如，像…一樣的意思，後面又is reshaping Donovan’s vocation as well.這裡as屬於不同短語，as well是也，同樣的意思。
