一個美國朋友來拜訪Bill,一見面便對Bill說“I haven’t seen you lately. What are you up to ?” Bill心想：他問我上樓做什麼？於是便說道“I’m so introduce my MP4 with the latest style.”好友反應過來Bill誤解了意思。只好跟他上去，看他如何炫耀。

遇到好久不見得朋友，口語用上這句What are you up to?意思就是“最近忙什麼？”“最近在做什麼？”當你看到別人亂翻你的東西時，用這句話也可表示“你在搞什麼鬼啊？”。
