In recent years, the volunteering spirit has spread among the Chinese people, especially among youngsters. According to a survey, in 2008, there were about 1,700,000 volunteers who offered service for Olympic Games. Actually, an increasing number of people become volunteers in China every year.
近年來,志願服務精神已經蔓延在中國人中傳播開來了,尤其是年輕人。據調查，2008年大約有170萬志願者為奧林匹克運動會提供服務。實際上，每年在中國都有越來越多的人成為志願者。
Volunteering actions are of tremendous benefits to both those in need and the society. Olympic Games are a good example. As is known to all, volunteers played an active role in Beijing Olympic Games. Without them, it would be a tough task to hold this un-precedent Olympic Games. Therefore, we can say that it was those volunteers who ensured the success of these games.

As modern college students, we should get actively involved in volunteering activities. From this I realized that we shouldn't waste our time of today and shouldn't put today's work off to tomorrow. Today is the base of tomorrow. I will no longer waste my present time. This afternoon my school held an English-speaking contest in the multi-function classroom. The contest was named "Challenging the Future"I was present at the contest as an audience.
I learned a lot from their speech. They had different plans for the future. But as they challenged the future, they had something in common,that is, they all made full use of the present. The present is the base of the future.

After graduation, college students have to make decisions about their future life. For those who are eager to become economically independent and to put into practice what they have learned in college, taking a job or doing poineeringwork will be both satisfying and rewarding. Getting established as a bread-winner after graduation is their main desire. By contrast, those who want to take advantage of the favorable conditions in college, however, will try to enroll in graduate programs inside or outside. For them, a Master's degree or even a Doctoral degree represents a much more ambitious goal than a bachelor's degree. In the same way, their lifetime success and interest lies more in academic achievements than in making money.

With the improvement of the living standards, many people are [1]no longer interested in the simple life style [2]and some of them even feel ashamed to be thrifty. What they pursue is the latest fashion. In their eyes, thrift is already out of style.
