Not very long ago, a special family system(體系) existed in certain parts of South India. In this system, the actual head of a family unit was the mother‘s eldest brother, though the mother also had an important position in the family. In families of this kind, a husband was actually no more than a visitor. He did not live with his wife, but with his own mother, brothers and sisters in another house. He saw his sons and daughters sometimes, but the man who actually fed and cared for them and acted as their father was their uncle-their mother‘s brother.

But this system, in which brother and sisters take the place of the father, no longer exists in South India except in a few villages. Economic changes have had far reaching effect on family life. Family life began to change when men went out to work in factories and offices instead of working with their mothers, brothers, and sisters on the land. When a man went out to work he had money of his own and could buy his own land and build his own family, instead of depending on his mother and his brothers. He wanted to be independent. This is an example of the way in which economic relations can have an effect on family relation-ships.

查讀又稱為尋讀。同略讀一樣,查讀也是一種快速閱讀的技巧。熟練的讀者運用查讀,獲得具體資訊,以提高閱讀效率。查讀是一種從大量資料之中查詢

某一具體事實或某一特定資訊,如人物,事件,時間,地點,數字等。而對其他無關部分則略去不讀的快速閱讀的方法。(文秋芳,1996)。運用這種方法就能

作為一種快速尋找資訊的閱讀技巧,查讀既需要速度,又要求查讀的準確性。具體地說,查讀帶有明確的目的性,有時針對性地選擇問題的答案。因此可

以把整段的文字映入大腦,不必逐字逐句過目。視線在文字上掠過,一旦發現有關的'內容,就要稍做停留,標示或摘下。既要保證查讀的速度,又要做到準確無誤。

所以用查讀技巧作應用文體裁的閱讀題型,成效更見顯著。

查讀與略讀不同。略讀時讀者事先對材料一無所知,而查讀則是讀者對材料有所瞭解的情況下進行的。

為了進行有效的查讀,讀者應運用以下技巧:

(1)利用材料的編排形式。資料多半按字母順序排列,如字典、郵政編碼及參考資料等。但也有按年代或類別。總之是利用某種邏輯方法排列的。

(2)利用章節標題和說明。查讀之後首先看文章標題或章節標題,確定文章是否包含自己所需要的資料,或者哪一部分包含哪些資料。這樣就可以直接翻到那個部分進行尋找。

(3)抓提示詞。讀者找到所包含資訊的章節,準備查讀。這就要留心與那個具體資訊有關的提示詞。找到提示詞之後,就可以採用一般速度獲得所需要的資訊。

我們在做閱讀理解時,這幾種閱讀方法也會交叉使用到,具體步驟為:

(1)先精讀問題,瞭解題後做到心中有數。

(2)用目光略讀全文,捕捉有關資訊。可利用標題、主題句等。例如,讀記敘文時我們要問5W,即為何(Why)、什麼(What)、誰(Who)、何時(When)、何地(Where)、怎樣(How)。例如要找一個人名,我們可以直接找到含有這個人名的句子。

(3)停下來讀這個句子。如果是答案。我們這個問題就解決了,如果不是,可以繼續搜尋查詢。同時注意一些關鍵的提示詞和標點符號。
