英語寫作精選練習

 練習一:Incoming

話題:

Writing: imagine a scenario or express your opinion

Incoming

Incoming means something is arriving. What is incoming? Why is it incoming? What will be the outcome?

This week's topic: It was incoming... (90-110 words)

Suggestions:

1) an incoming phone call

2) an incoming attack

3) incoming students for the new school year

4) the incoming crowd gathering outside the stadium

5) Instead of writing a scenario, feel free to comment on the story below.

範例1:

After explaining his purpose, the interior designer handed the envelope of sketches to the staff member at Club 1997. The staff took the envelope and said that it would be passed onto the club manager once he arrived at the Club. The interior designed expressed this thanks. Just when he was about to leave the premise, he turned around and saw a figure walking through the main entrance of the club. The incoming figure waved at him, and he waved back. It was the club manager. As the interior designer thought, the manager had come to work.

 練習二:Confident

話題:

Writing: imagine a scenario or express your opinion

Confident

Confident means believing one's ability. Who is confident? What is the reason? What will be the outcome?

This week's topic: They were confident... (90-110 words)

Suggestions:

1) confident about the outcome

2) walk onto the stage with confidence

3) confidence level of the calculations

4) confident about the evidence presented

5) Instead of writing a scenario, feel free to comment on the story below.

範例1:

Staff members could be seen working around the floor, even from outside the slightly tinted glass windows. At least the interior designer was in luck; he did not have to stand around and wait for the club to open for business. Perhaps he could have left the sketches there by slipping the envelope through the gap at the door, but he could not be confident that the club manager would receive them and that the sketches would not be damaged. He felt much safer since he could leave the sketches in the hands of somebody instead of just at the location.
