一、書信(Letter)
書信的格式是：信頭(發信人的地址和日期)，位於信紙的右上角;信內地址(收信人的地址，私人信件可省去)，位於信頭下兩行左邊;稱呼，位於信內地址下;正文，位於稱呼下，縮排兩個字元;署名，位於正文下兩行右邊;簽名，位於結尾下。如：

二、通知(通告)(Notice)
通知(通告)是要告知某種資訊而使用的一種文體。形式有：在通知(通告)上方居中寫上Notice字樣作為標題;無稱呼語，通知中用第三人稱;出通知單位或負責人名字應寫在正文最後的右下方，或放在標題之上，作為標題的一部分，這樣最後不再署名;出通知的日期寫在正文右下方，應在單位名的'下一行。如：

三、啟事(Notice)
啟事是一種公告性的通知，需要向公眾說明什麼事情，要求什麼幫助都可以採用。把啟事內容的要點作為標題寫在啟事的上方正中;啟事的日期寫在右上方;啟事者名稱在右下方;不用稱呼語。如：

四、留言條(Message left)
一般用於熟人之間在某一場合直接留言。留言時往往簡明扼要，格式也較簡單。日期可寫年、月、日，也可寫星期幾、上下午，或幾點鐘。名字一般只用姓或名，如雙方不熟悉，也可用全名。語言特點是用詞隨便通俗，比較接近口語。如：
