1. 首先“inception”，電影以這個詞命名，“inception”直譯是指“注入生成”，其字典上面的意思是通常指開端、某事態剛剛開始的階段;比如 “we've come up with an idea and a plan for how to carry it out, so for us, that's the inception of the project right there”(我們有了一個想法以及如何來實現/實施該想法的計劃，所以對於我們來說，這個專案就在這時產生了)。那 麼我們第一次聽到片名時可能還會互相問一下：“what comes to mind when you hear the word inception?”(對於你來說，在聽到“生成、納入”這一詞的時候，你的'腦海裡第一浮現的印象是什麼?)
2. 再來，這是一個科幻動作片，英文稱為“sci-fi action film”，並且還是“much-anticipated summer blockbuster”(備受期待的夏季大片);影片劇情型別是“variant of the heist genre”(與傳統偷盜大片稍所不同)。然後就是提一下有關“basic facts/information about the film”(電影的一些最基本的一些資訊)。例如：“directed and written by Christopher Nolan and starring Leonardo DiCaprio, Ken Watanabe, Joseph Gordon-Levitt, etc”(Christopher Nolan是編劇兼導演，主演演員有萊昂納多?迪卡普里奧、渡邊謙、約瑟芬? 戈登-羅維特等)。
3. 這是一部討論有關人類潛意識(subconsciousness)的影片，而最好能夠體現我們潛意識活動的就是“做夢”時咱們的認知狀態(our thoughts and ideas in a dream state)。我們都知道咱們在做夢時一般是沒有主動意識可以改變夢境的( normally we can't consciously make changes with what we're dreaming)，但也有些時候，通過做一些努力，比如咱們正在做一場好夢 不願意醒來時(when we're in a good dream that we didn't want to wake up on)，或是希望記得剛才所夢到的情景時就可能下意識地“引導”咱們的夢境往某希望方向發展( focus consciously on wanting to continue the dream or a certain aspect of the dream)——這種情況就稱為“dream incubation”(下意識培育某種夢境);另外一個情況是當你在做夢狀 態下意識到自己是“正在做夢”，那麼這個現象就稱之為“lucid dreaming”(有主觀意識的做夢狀態)。
4. Nolan在影片中希望傳遞給觀眾的就是這麼一個潛意識體驗，然後再結合了科幻 片色彩，即假設我們有科技能力得以侵入他人的夢境(他人的潛意識)，不僅能夠 “extract or steal the dreams”(抽出，或是盜走人們的夢境)，並且還試圖“plant an idea or begin an inception” (植入某想法或是使得這種新想法被納入)到他人潛意識/夢境。迪卡普里奧所飾 演的Dom Cobb就是這個盜夢天才，他必須挑戰完成被委託將某新想法植入到“a corporate target's mind”(一個商界目標人物的頭腦中)。
