首先，應當結合課本中的地圖以及有關地圖的介紹進行記憶。記好地圖，是學好地理的.重要途徑，可以根據地圖進行形象記憶。以中國地理為例：心中有地圖，我們就可以記住自西到東分別是新疆、西藏、青海、四川……黑龍江。要讓腦中有個立體影象，便於記憶。

其次，可以藉助大的河流來進行記憶。大江大河的流域都很廣，記住它們流經的地方，就可以記住相應的地名。例如，南美的亞馬遜河，橫穿了南美洲北部的廣大地域，而它的兩邊就是寬廣無邊的亞馬遜平原。這樣，我們就可以記住亞馬遜平原在南美洲南部。
Secondly, memory can be carried out with the help of large rivers. The river basins of the big rivers are very wide. Remember the places where they flow, and you can remember the corresponding place names. For example, the Amazon River in South America traverses the vast area of northern South America, and its two sides are the vast Amazon plain. 再次，就是把氣候普遍相同的地區歸為一類，記其中最有代表性的一個。例如，在高緯度地區的英國、挪威、丹麥、冰島等地區，氣候基本一致——乾冷、少雨、溫度低。我們可以把丹麥或冰島作為代表來記緯度較高的國家的氣候特點。
