智慧手機smartphone

Microsoft Corp. and Nokia Corp. on Wednesday announced an alliance that will bringMicrosoft's Office and related software and services to Nokia smartphones.

在上面的報道中,smartphone就是我們現在流行的“智慧手機”。Smart在該詞中的意思是“智慧的,智慧化的”。我們現在有smart card (智慧卡),smart dust(智慧微塵——具有電腦功能的超微型感測器)等。

和smart相結合的詞多和“聰明、靈巧”相關,如smart drink是“智慧飲料”(有益智功效的混合飲料),smart mob是“聰明暴民、快閃族(指通過手機或其他方式聯絡後聚集、集體行動等的一群人)”。但是有的和smart沾邊的詞就沒那麼幸運了,像smart-ass是“自作聰明的人”,而smart mouth則是“說話放肆的人”。

另外,smart還可以解釋為“時髦的”,例如smart casual就是“休閒且時髦的服飾”。
