定語從句中關係副詞有when, where,why, how等，其代替前面的先行詞，在從句中有著時間狀語，地點狀語，原因狀語的作用。另外也可用介詞+which的結構。比如from which, of which, in which等。
1.在從句中作時間狀語
A.I still remember clearly the day when I first left my parents.
我仍舊清晰地記得我第一次離開父母的那一天。（when 修飾the day）
knew the time when the last train came?
誰知道最後一列火車到來的時間。
the year in which he was going to college he began to know a lot.
從他將要去上大學的那一年起，他懂了很多。
2.在從句中作地點狀語
gqing is the city where she was born.重慶市她出生的.城市。
place where I have lived three years will have a big change.
我已經生活了三年之久的地方將會有一個大的變化。
t progress has been made about economics development in the city in which I had visited.
在我去過的這座城市經濟發展已經取得了巨大的進展。
3.在從句中作原因狀語
aps, that`s the best way to reveal the reason why the expenditure of living has rose.可能這是最好的方式揭示生活花費上漲了的原因。（這個句中why可以用for which來替換，從句可以寫成”for which the expenditure of living has rose”）
B.I don`t understand the reason why Lisa dropped out in junior school.我不明白為什麼麗薩在中學輟學的原因。（同樣的，該句從句可以改寫成”for which Lisa dropped out in junior school”）
