I beg your pardon的'口語用法
1. 表示道歉（比 Im sorry. 更正式，也說 Pardon me），意為：對不起。如：
A：I beg your pardon，I suppose I should have knocked. 對不起，我想我本來應該敲門的。
B：Thats quite all right. 那沒關係。
2. 表示沒聽清或沒聽懂對方的話，請對方再說一遍 （也說Pardon，說時用升調），意為：請再說一遍；對不起，我沒聽清。如：
A：Turn off the light，please. 請把燈關掉。
B：I beg your pardon. 對不起，我沒聽清。
A：Wheres the post office？ 郵局在什麼地方？
B：I beg your pardon？請問，你說什麼？
A：I asked where the post office is. 我問郵局在什麼地方。
3. 用來提出異議（也說 Pardon me. 這樣用時語氣堅定且不友好），意為：對不起。如：
I beg your pardon， he was not there. 對不起，他不在那兒。
I beg your pardon， what you say is not exactly correct. 對不起，你說的話不完全對。
Pardon me， but this is my coat. 對不起，這是我的外套。
4. 用來引起對方注意（如：要打擾對方，與陌生搭話等，也說I beg pardon， Pardon me等），意為：對不起，打擾一下，請問。如：
I beg your pardon，is this your handbag？對不起，這是你的手提包嗎？
