據來自上海邊檢部門的訊息，參加上海世博會的澳大利亞代表團一行40人6日晚抵達上海，中國邊檢部門首次開啟“世博專用通道”，僅用5分鐘就為參展團一行辦理了入境手續。

在世博會的最後準備階段，上海將為陸續抵達的.外國參展團提供專用通道實行快速邊境檢查。
在上面的報道中，border inspection即“邊境檢查”，簡稱“邊檢”。Border是“邊境，邊界”的意思，例如：redraw the border（重劃疆界）。Inspection表示“檢查，檢驗”，例如：On closer inspection the notes proved to be forgeries.（經進一步仔細檢視，發現這些鈔票是偽造的。）
除了邊境檢查，地鐵也需要加強security check（安檢）。在security checkpoint（安檢口）都會設有X-ray machine（X光機）看旅客是否攜帶了forbidden items（違禁物品）。同樣為了確保產品質量安全，對產品也要進行inspection，部分優質商品可獲得national inspection exemption（國家免檢）證書。
