1、按英美的`習俗，送禮不但可以表示感激之情，也常用來作為聯絡感情的一種方法。無論是父子、夫妻、朋友、情侶，彼此都可以借互贈禮物來增進感情，且並不拘泥於任何形式。不少人甚至動手做上一份小小的禮物送給朋友或親人。
2、接受禮物時，除了向對方道謝外，外國人，尤其是英美人士還習慣當場拆開禮物，並且禮貌地問一句May I open it?禮物拆開後，再大大讚揚一番。
