一、寫作時間安排
雅思寫作考試時間僅僅為一個小時，而且要在這一個小時內完成兩篇作文，可想而知，難度有多大，尤其是對那麼基礎不是特別好，時間安排也不是特別合理的考生來說就更難了。時間是寶貴而重要的，不能浪費一分一秒，考生又該如何有效安排寫作考試時間呢?
為達到此目的，考生可以在平時進行實戰練習，正所謂臺上一分鐘，臺下十年功，想要在真正考試時合理把控時間，那麼在平時就少不了練習。在練習時，小作文儘量在20分鐘左右完成，大作文在40分鐘左右完成。需要強調一點的是，考生在練習時，最好要拿正式答題紙並用鉛筆寫作，這樣可以讓自己提前熟悉考試模式，避免失誤。
若是考生一開始並不能做到在相應的時間內就完成寫作任務，那麼也不要著急，一步一步來，慢慢掌握之後就會大有改進。
二、寫作任務要求
在雅思寫作評分標準中，對寫作任務有明確的要求，若是目標分為6分，那麼在作答時，就要回應題目所有要求，立場切題，主要觀點有相關性等，若是目標分為7分，那麼就要回應題目所有要求，自始至終立場清晰，既表達了主要觀點，也提供了論據以及對論據進行了拓展。想要完成寫作任務並不簡單，很多考生也因此而丟分。

雅思寫作不同於託福寫作那樣有一個比較完善的題庫，考生可以對其進行練習，準備好所需的詞彙或是寫作思路等等，雅思寫作題庫並不固定，所以備考難度就會加大備考難度。
不過，雖然題庫不固定，但是雅思寫作題材是比較固定的，如教育，社會，政府，環境，法律，文化，動物等等，這些題材的固定以及各自所涉及的詞彙，句型，寫作思路都會給考生帶來一定的幫助。考生在平時對自己不熟悉的題材或是題目多多掌握並勤加練習，會大有收穫。
四、大作文學術性偏強
雅思大作文是議論文，而且學術性質較強。然而，很多考生卻以為學術寫作與一般的寫作沒有什麼區別，在用詞，文體等上面也沒有準確使用，這都會影響作文分數。
既然是學術寫作，那麼在寫作過程中就應該注意該用什麼樣的詞彙，以及文體等等，以此避免不必要的失誤。
在詞彙上，用要正式的詞彙，如harm用endanger，undermine等表達，文體上用正式的寫作文體，也就是不能出現縮寫形式，避免口語詞彙，英式拼寫與美式拼寫不能混用等等。所應注意的事項有很多，考生一定要全面瞭解，在寫作中不要犯錯，這樣才有機會拿到高分。
