again【ə'gen】，英語詞彙，副詞，表示“又;再”，源自古英語的ongean，意為朝向，反對。
一、語法用法
1. 一般說來，它不與那些已含有 again 意義的動詞連用，以免構成用詞重複。如：
請再說一遍。
正：Please repeat it. / Please say it again.
誤：Please repeat it again.
但是有時為了強調，again 本身卻可以疊用。如：
He made the same mistake again and again. 他反覆犯同樣的.錯誤。
有時也可見 again 與 repeat 之類的詞連用，但那表示的是第3次而不是第2次。如：
He had to repeat it again. 他只好又重複了一遍。(即連同原來的第一遍和第二遍共計3遍)
2. 注意以下含有again的表達，不要誤解其意思：
(1) then again 再說，另一方面。用於引出相對照的事實或看法。如：
He’s clumsy and untidy but then again he’s always willing to help. 他笨手笨腳的又邋遢;可是話說回來，他總是樂於助人。
有時也說there again。
(2) 以下各例用於“as + adj. + again”結構中的again表示“增加”：
My uncle is as old again as I am. 我叔叔的年齡比我大一倍。
I’d like the photograph enlarged so that it’s half as big again. 我想把這張照片放大一半。
這類結構尤其見於as many again, as much again這兩個結構。如：
I’d like as many [much] again. 我願再增加一倍。
The cost is about half as much again as it was two years ago. 現在的價格比兩年前提高約一半。
There aren’t enough chairs for the meeting—we need half as many again. 供開會用的椅子數量不夠——需要再增加一半。
