There are many festivals in a year. Among them, my favorite holiday is Christmas. At Christmas, I always believe that Santa Claus will give me presents. Santa Claus always knows my wishes, always driving his reindeer in the snow to give us presents.

On Christmas Eve, I asked my parents, "will Santa give me presents this year?" Mom and dad said, "yes, yes." Hearing the words of my father and mother, I smiled with relief.

On the night of Christmas, my mother said to me, "as long as you sleep quietly tonight, do not open your eyes, and tomorrow morning the gift will be on your bed." I readily agreed. In the evening I made my wish: I want a snowman. I couldn't sleep because I was thinking about presents. In the middle of the night I suddenly saw a vague figure walking up to my bed and putting the present at the bedside. I see the "mystery man", originally "Santa Claus", in order not to let "Santa Claus" find me to wake up and walk away, I have to narrow my eyes, ah! What a Santa! I was so happy that I almost screamed. I am "Santa Claus" out of my door, I snuck out, also quietly behind "Santa Claus", and "Santa Claus" found me and ran away as quickly as they could. Because it was so dark at night, I didn't dare go after it.

Back in the room, I turned on the light, and at the head of my bed was a snowman. It happened to be my wish. The next day, I said to my parents, "I saw Father Christmas last night." Mom and dad asked in surprise, "really?" Then I saw my dad's dark circles and asked, "daddy, how did you have dark circles?" "Nothing," he said. "nothing. Maybe I didn't sleep well."

In my dad's words, I vaguely guessed something...

Say, Santa Claus blows a whistle, the reindeer pull the car, ga da, ga da's run e, I and Santa Claus sit on the car, Santa's back gift, I hold the list of gifts. The deer got up and I pulled off the list and found the list was so long that I could stretch out the list with two arms, but it wasn't long enough. As I read the list, Father Christmas sent presents. The streets were filled with children's laughter, some singing, some dancing, all happy.

The gift was finally handed out. I went back to the yeti village with Santa Claus. When I was about to say goodbye to them, Father Christmas stopped me and the old man took out his last present from his pocket and gave it to me. I thanked Santa and went home. I think this is my happiest Christmas.

Christmas is annual festival in western world that is one of the most important festivals for them. Previously, only westerners or Christians celebrate it. But in recent years, more and more Chinese people celebrate it, especially among young people. There are many activities in that day.

I think there are the following reasons that make Christmas popular in China. First, it’s a western holiday and it’s new to Chinese. Second, with the development of the world, the mutual influence between China and the west makes it work. Last, the merchants make great contribution to its popularity.

Although Christmas is not a traditional Chinese festival, but still bring us a lot of happiness.

I like Christmas, it is just like our Spring Festival.

Maybe the Spring Festival is much more important and interesting than Christmas, but I like Christmas Day better. Because we can spend time with our friends and classmates during Christmas. When it is snowy, Christmas becomes much more lovely, just like in fairytales. I can imagine I am in a fairytale, the girl who sold the matches is my friend, the ugly duck becoming more and more beautiful and so on. What a beautiful place! So we can also call Christmas “Snowy Lovely Day.”

On Christmas Day, shops are red and green. There are so many Christmas cards, Christmas hats, Christmas dolls and many colourful things. So shops look very beautiful. We can give a card or a doll to our friends and say “Merry Christmas.” By the way, I think studying can also become much more interesting.

Christmas is coming, it also means a new year will come. Let’s study harder to welcome the new year!

Every year December 25th is Christmas day, on this day, most people think of gifts, elk, Christmas tree and Santa Claus, but few people think about the real meaning of Christmas: bring love and joy to others.

Written by Charles Dickens' a Christmas carol is a good example: one old man called scrooge, he didn't smile, and very stingy, just want to himself, he is not friendly to anyone. He only CARES about how he makes more money, and he hates Christmas very much. On a Christmas Eve, he saw the dead of Jacob marley, the lost business partner, who was the same man as scrooge, so he was punished after his death. He warned scrooge to change himself or be punished. He also told scrooge to be ready for three spirits to visit him. That night, three elves actually visited scrooge. In the first place, the spirit of Christmas past brought scrooge back to his childhood, and made him look back on the happy days of his childhood. Then, the spirit of Christmas now takes him to see how other people celebrate Christmas, even the poor, happy and happy. Finally, the spirit of the future of Christmas brings him into the future. Scrooge sees himself dead, but everyone doesn't care. Scrooge was so frightened that he awoke from his sleep to discover that it was the morning of Christmas. Scruzzi decided to change himself and promised to be a good man. He happily celebrates Christmas with his relatives and presents gifts to the people who need them. Now he was kind and warm to everyone, bringing love and joy to every place he visited.

This is the spirit of Christmas!

Christmas is a Christian holiday that celebrates the birth of Jesus Christ. No one knows the exact date of Christ‘s birth, but most Christians observe Christmas on December 25. On this day, many go to church, where they take part in special religious services. During the Christmas season, they also exchange gifts and decorate their homes with holly, mistletoe, and Christmas trees. The word Christmas comes from Cristes maesse, an early English phrase that means Mass of Christ. The story of Christmas comes chiefly from the Gospels of Saint Luke and Saint Matthew in the New Testament.

The history of Christmas dates back over 4000 years. Many of our Christmas traditions were celebrated centuries before the Christ child was born. The 12 days of Christmas, the bright fires, the yule log, the giving of gifts, carnivals(parades) with floats, carolers who sing while going from house to house, the holiday feasts, and the church processions can all be traced back to the early Mesopotamians.

Many of these traditions began with the Mesopotamian celebration of New Years. The Mesopotamians believed in many gods, and as their chief god-Marduk. Each year as winter arrived it was believed that Marduk would do battle with the monsters of chaos. To assist Marduk in his struggle the Mesopotamians held a festival for the New Year. This was Zagmuk, the New Year‘s festival that lasted for 12 days.

The Persians and the Babylonians celebrated a similar festival called the Sacaea. Part of that celebration included the exchanging of places, the slaves would become the masters and the masters were to obey. The ancient Greeks held a festival similar to that of the Zagmuk/Sacaea festivals to assist their god Kronos who would battle the god Zeus and his Titans.

The Roman‘s celebrated their god Saturn. Their festival was called Saturnalia which began the middle of December and ended January 1st. With cries of Jo Saturnalia! the celebration would include masquerades in the streets, big festive meals, visiting friends, and the exchange of good-luck gifts called Strenae (lucky fruits). The Romans decked their halls with garlands of laurel and green trees lit with candles. Again the masters and slaves would exchange places.

Jo Saturnalia! was a fun and festive time for the Romans, but the Christians thought it an abomination to honor the pagan god. The early Christians wanted to keep the birthday of their Christ child a solemn and religious holiday, not one of cheer and merriment as was the pagan Saturnalia.

Some legends claim that the Christian Christmas celebration was invented to compete against the pagan celebrations of December. The 25th was not only sacred to the Romans but also the Persians whose religion Mithraism was one of Christianity‘s main rivals at that time. The Church eventually was successful in taking the merriment, lights, and gifts from the Saturanilia festival and bringing them to the celebration of Christmas.

The exact day of the Christ child‘s birth has never been pinpointed. Traditions say that it has been celebrated since the year 98 AD. In 137 AD the Bishop of Rome ordered the birthday of the Christ Child celebrated as a solemn feast. In 350 AD another Bishop of Rome, Julius I, choose December 25th as the observance of Christmas.

The birth of Jesus had a story: In Nazareth, a city of Galilee. The virgin‘s name was Mary was betrothed to Joseph. Before they came together, she was found with child of the Holy Spirit. Joseph her husband was minded to put her away secretly. While he thought about these things, Gabriel, an angel of the Lord appeared to him in a dream and told him did not be afraid to take Mary as wife. And Mary will bring forth a Son, and he shall call his name, Jesus, for he will save his people from their sins.

Before Jesus births, Joseph and Mary came to Quirnius was governing Syria. So all went to be registered, everyone to his own city. Joseph also went up out of Galilee, out of the city of Nazareth, into Judea, to the city of David, which is called Bethlehem, because he was of the house and of the lineage of David, to be registered with Mary, his betrothed wife, who was with child. So it was that while they were there, the days were completed for her to be delivered. And she brought forth her firstborn Son, and wrapped him in swaddling cloths, and laid him in a manger, because there was no room for them in the inn.

It was Christmas Day yesterday. We had a Christmas party at school. Many friends of mine came to the party. After we saidMerry Christmas, we began to sing Christmas songs, such as Edelweiss, andso on. Then we told some Christmas stories, such as Christmas Father. Then I danced and laughted with my friends. We all had a good time. When the party came to the end,we said Happy New Year to each other.

Christmas is a Christian holiday held on December 25 which celebrates the birth of Jesus Christ. Eastern Orthodox Churches, which use the Julian Calendar to determine feast days, celebrate on January 7 by the Gregorian Calendar. Both dates are merely traditional and neither is thought to be the actual birthdate of Jesus. Christ‘s birth, or nativity, is said to fulfill Old Testament prophecies concerning the coming of a messiah, or savior.

The word Christmas is derived Middle English Christemasse and from Old English Cristes is a contraction meaning Christ‘s mass. The name of the holiday is often shortened to Xmas because Roman letter X resembles the Greek letter Χ (chi), an abbreviation for Christ .

In Western countries, Christmas has become the most economically significant holiday of the year. The popularity of Christmas can be traced in part to its status as a winter festival.

Many cultures have their most important holiday in winter because there is less agricultural work to do at this time. Examples of winter festivals that are believed by some to have influenced Christmas include the pre-Christian festivals of Yule and Saturnalia.

In Western culture, the holiday is characterized by the exchange of gifts among friends and family members, some of the gifts being attributed to Santa Claus (also known as Father Christmas, Saint Nicholas, and Father Frost). However, various local and regional Christmas traditions are still practiced, despite the widespread influence of American, British and Australian Christmas motifs disseminated by film, popular literature, television, and other media.
