對於很多英語四六級考生來說，很多時候之所以會得到一個要比自己的真實水平、自我預期底很多的作文分數，一個最重要的原因就是犯了立意失當的根本方向性錯誤。有些考生自作聰明的認為，要想在眾多考生中與眾不同，抓住閱卷老師的心，就要在文章立意方面不走尋常路，標新立異，劍走偏鋒，甚至是反其道而行之，選定的論點與給定材料主題南轅北轍，甚至不符合人們約定俗稱的道德、倫理、價值觀念。
