他的親信侍從見魏文侯準備動身，就問道：“今天這喝得這麼高興，外面又下雨，您這是準備去哪兒呢？”魏文侯說：“我與虞約好今天見面去打獵，雖然喝酒喝得正在興頭上，但怎麼可以不遵守約定的.時間呢？”
於是便親自到虞人那裡，和他談了自己現在歡快的心情，取消了原定的打獵計劃。
